Welcome to our first NEW VET Newsletter. In this edition, you will find info on the activities of NEW VET, the European Vocational Skills Week 2020 in Berlin and you will meet the partner organizations of the project.
NEW VET Project
NEW VET “Network fostering the European Work-based learning system for VET providers”, co-funded by the EU Erasmus+ (KA3) programme, wants to foster partnership and cooperation among VET providers to become effective actors in supporting VET reforms at national and European levels.
NEW VET will increase the quality of national VET systems by promoting the effective implementation of EU recommendations and tools. The project will also raise awareness on the Work-Based Learning system to make VET a more popular and attractive choice.
1st NEW VET meeting Rome, ITALY
KICK OF MEETING AND PRESS CONFERENCE
On 20th January 2020 we all met at the IAL NAZIONALE Headquarters in Rome for the project NEW VET, where the key issues related to the first stage of its delivery were discussed.
On 21st January 2020 a Launching Conference was organized at the Italian Confederation of Workers’ Trade Unions (CISL) Headquarters in Rome, where the NEW VET project was presented to a broad audience.
NEW VET 1st TRAINING HOTSPOT
From 21st to 23rd January 2020 NEW VET partners followed the 1st NEW VET transnational capacity building training hotspot in IAL NAZIONALE Headquarters in Rome. On the first day, two experts informed NEW VET partners about the European Union’s Policies for the next programming period 2021-2027.
The second day of the hotspot training, presentations focused on Italy’s experience in Erasmus+ and the results Italy has achieved in the VET field for the past five years. The third and the last day of the training consisted of a workshop on EU project writing.
2nd NEW VET meeting Le Puy-en-Velay, FRANCE
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we had to postpone our project meeting and the second Training Hotspot to be held in France in April 2020. All the partners agreed that the event should take place in Le Puy-en-Velay, France from 28th September to 2nd October 2020!
Partners will learn how ECVET system and other relevant EU tools can be transferred at the specific local level to better adapt the existing national WBL frameworks to the quality and efficiency standards set out by the European Union.

VET learners, teachers and in-company trainers from each NEW VET project country, ie. Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Slovenia are warmly invited to share their initiatives and personal inspiration stories on our website that will take part in the « Share your Story” digital storytelling national contests.
Three winners in each category, ie. VET learner, VET teacher/tutor and VET in-company trainer/mentor will have the opportunity to participate in the European Vocational Skills Week organized each year in different locations across Europe.

Fight against COVID-19
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the closing of education and training institutions all over the world, several initiatives have been taken to ensure continuity of the learning and teaching through this period. To capture the variety of initiatives that have been undertaken, the European Commission launched an online survey. The survey has been opened on 18th March 2020. European Vocational Skills Week 2020
In the European Commission they are still planning to hold the European Vocational Skills Week from 9th to 13th November 2020. 2020 is the Fifth Anniversary of the European Vocational Skills Week. They will be paying particular attention to two issues high on the agenda of the new European Commission – green and digital. Look out for more information that we hope you can use to help spread the VET message again.

MEET NEW VET PARTNERS
IAL Marche
IAL Marche srl Impresa Sociale is a social enterprise providing VET services. It is linked to CISL MARCHE (Confederation of Trade Unions) and its mission is to provide VET to enter or re-enter the labour market. Since 1955, it has been working on a wide range of activities helping individuals to gain skills. IAL MARCHE offers job services addressed to unemployed people and enterprises seeking for workers. Furthermore, IAL Marche belongs to a national Italian NETWORK called IAL IMPRESA SOCIALE and coordinated by IAL NAZIONALE. IAL Marche works successfully in the planning and management of European projects, especially Erasmus+ programmes.
Ms. Norma Castro has a degree in Education and she has been working in education since 1988. She has gained far-reaching skills in project management thanks to her 15 years’ experience as director in a VET Centre. She is responsible of EU projects office; her professional experiences cover all the main steps of project development and implementation including the following topics: vocational training, culture and capacity building.
Ms. Annalisa Marchetti has a degree in Languages, has been the head of an Academy for beauticians for 3 years and worked for IAL Marche as teacher, trainer, project manager since 2015. Mainly works on the VET process with students, teachers, VET providers and all the stakeholders involved in it. She has gained experiences in the ERASMUS+ Programme through the following projects KA1 Wellness#kepass, KA2 Opening Doors, KA3 VETBUS and NEW VET.
Ms. Tiziana Ciranna has a degree in business management techniques and has been working for IAL Marche srl as a reporting manager since 1998. She has been developing reports concerning the EU, NA, regional fundings and interprofessional funds. She has been involved in the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of training courses and is responsible for internal staff management in the pay slips preparation and allocation of HR.
Mr. Valentino Parlato has a degree in Economics. He has more than 15 years experience strengthening links between enterprises and VET institutions, especially in the field of VET. His skills covers the management of a large number of national and international projects for strengthening links between industry and education, also by supporting cooperation with social partners. He has been the CEO of IAL MARCHE since 2017.
Lycée C. et A. Dupuy- Greta du Velay
The Greta du Velay is a public vocational training organisation, managed through the supervision of Lycée C. et A. Dupuy. It is a group of 15 secondary schools, six high schools and colleges under the wing of the Ministry of Education. Certified ISO 9001 since 1998, it was founded in 1974. It employs 4 training advisers and 40 trainers, delivers around 300000 training hours per year, welcoming 2000-2500 learners, 80% of them being in work-based learning schemes. Courses are organised following the needs of companies in a variety of sectors: hospitality, cooking, health, construction, industry, audiovisual, management, languages, computing… They can aim at preparing national diplomas.
Ms. Céline Gibert is training adviser involved in the management board. She is occupational psychologist and has developed educational resources for the work integration of young adults including a curriculum for in-company tutors. She coordinates the work-based learning offer in sectors such as business, accounting, administration, IT, cooking, hospitality.
Mr. Pierre Carrolaggi coordinates the pedagogical lab. He is a certified professor from the Ministry of Education in training engineering, European adviser, agronomist, and studied social sciences. He has initiated and coordinated innovative actions, most of them at EU level. He has elaborated numerous training resources and reference guides to develop competences.
Mr. Denis Aboulin is training adviser, actively involved in the national association gathering advisers from the 137 Greta covering the French territory. He was an IT trainer. He coordinates the work-based learning offer of Greta du Velay for the industry (quality, maintenance, automation, leatherwork…) and for the audio-visual sector.
Šolski center Nova Gorica
Šolski center Nova Gorica is one of the biggest vocational educational and training centres in Slovenia. It offers a wide variety of training and educational programmes for youth aged from 15-19 as well as for adults in the field of: economics and business, computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, wood processing, transport and technical gymnasium as well as agriculture and horticulture, health and care. It is listed as one of the Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) that are developing into an important component of EU VET policy.
Ms. Valentina Furjan is a project coordinator at the Intercompany training centre of the Nova Gorica School Centre. She has many years of experience in teaching at secondary school in Slovenia and abroad as well as participating in the field of international and national projects such as Interreg, Symbiosis e-Literate Slovenia and SirIKT. She has participated several times in the Euroskills competition with the Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Vocational Education. She holds a diploma (MA equivalent) in Translation from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Ms. Tanja Ušaj Hvalič is a teacher of economic subjects at the Secondary School of Economics and Commerce of the Nova Gorica School Centre. She is also a mentor of students who win top places in national competitions year after year: International Fair of LearningCompanies, S-create festival, DOSS (Student Advertising Scene of Slovenia). She is the author of eight textbooks for the implementation of publicly valid educational programs for business informatics, marketing, teaching business and corporate business, as well as a reviewer of business informatics textbooks. She has actively participated in the NET- ENT project, within the EU project Erasmus+ Networking for Entrepreneurship. She holds a university degree in economics with 25 years working experience with students.
IHK-Projektgesellschaft mbH
IHK-Projektgesellschaft mbH is a 100% subsidiary company of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They act as a service provider and partner for Vocational Education and Training (VET) for the Chambers, Ministries and other institutions. They provide qualified initial and continuing training for apprentices and employees as well as advise to companies in order to strategically assure and support skilled labour in the chamber region. In order to reach these goals the are constantly seeking to increase their expertise on different topics such as innovative (online-) training, educational mobility, work- based learning (IVET) and cross-border networking by initiating and cooperating in different strategic VET partnerships, both regionally and European.
Hartmut Schaefer is the Head of the Higher VET Centre and manager of several national as well as international projects. He is an member in the team of German ECVET experts and has a lot of practical experiences in designing vocational education curricula, individual training pathways and creating units of learning outcome (ECVET, EQF). He is a recognized in company trainer in the dual VET system.
Sindy Würffel is committed to project management in terms of planning, implementation and reporting for EU Erasmus+ projects. She finished her cultural studies with a master’s degree. She has a VET background and meets the requirements of the official CCI trainer qualification for apprentices.
ReadLab
ReadLab brings together a multidisciplinary team of highly specialized researchers from the fields of engineering, communication technologies, education, social and political sciences and arts and humanities with a long experience in project management and implementation of national, EU-funded and international projects. They have cooperated with a wide range of private, public and non-profit organizations in Europe, Middle East and Latin America and the Western Balkans, transferring technical knowledge and designing novel products.
Ms. Vassiliki Chatzipetrou is ReadLab’s NEW VET Steering Committee Representative. She is the Co-Founder & Director of the EU & International Cooperation Department of the Research, Innovation and Development Lab – ReadLab, with extensive professional experience EU-funded projects implementation, especially as regards Project Management and Strategic Planning. She holds a BA in International and European Studies from the Department of International and European Studies, University of Piraeus, Greece and an MA in War Studies from King’s College London, University of London, UK.
Ms. Kristina Zharkalliu is an Administrative Officer at ReadLab and committed to supporting the implementation of the NEWVET project. Kristina has worked as a consultant in the areas of higher education, inclusion and the protection of vulnerable groups regarding education, citizenship education and youth policies. She has experience in Erasmus+ programs project management and implementation. She has a strong background in EU public policies. She holds a MA in Public Administration & Governance (Central European University) and a BA in International & European Studies (University of Piraeus).
WELCOME Aps
WELCOME A.p.s. is a not-for-profit association stimulating transnational cooperation, strengthening public and private partnership in Europe and fostering excellence, innovation and quality in all the activities related to the human capital development. WELCOME is an official VET Provider recognised by the Marche Regional Authority and it has a very reliable experience in designing, coordinating, managing, monitoring and evaluating European mobility projects on Work-Based Learning experiences for students. WELCOME acts as a Mobility Agency for the young beneficiaries of Erasmus+ KA1 mobility grants but it also cooperates in several other KA2 and KA3 projects. During over 10 years of experience WELCOME’s staff built and strengthened an extremely large local network of partners, now cooperating with more than 20 organisations among regional VET schools, universities, academies, trade and business associations.
WELCOME founders are Silvia, Laura and Martina, three experienced EU project managers willing to spread the European values and to support the dissemination of initiatives promoted by the European Union.
Silvia Baiocco is an expert in organising and managing Work-Based Learning experiences for students in Europe and in skills assessment activities. She is included in the regional list of Employment Services Operators as a provider of information, guidance counselling and supply/demand intersection.
Laura Bulgari is an expert in accounting, programming and monitoring mobility projects. She has a specific expertise related to the ECVET system and its implementation by carrying out training activities for students and teachers.
Martina Paccova is an expert in designing and managing cooperation projects in the field of education and culture. She also provides advice to SMEs for access to ERDF funding and is a registered Local Development Facilitator for the Marche Region.
